Back From The Void
I was just at the opening of the 30th Annual Holocaust Education Week. Listened to surivor Pinchas Gutter and his chronicler Stephen D. Smith. Quite an extraordinary story, but one of thousands of other survivors. Pinchas said those six years in the Holocaust from age 7 until 13 took away his emotions for many years. Even today he often looks at the beauty that is life as if it was a void. He sees...

Went to the 10th International conference on North Korean Human Rights & Refugees. Held in Toronto this past weekend. Really shocking what is going on over there to keep the Kims in power.

Pedalers & Paddlers
On Sunday I partook in a 17 km bike tour of the Don River throught the heart of Toronto. This is the 4th most polluted river in Canada and the murky waters certainly do not lead one to think otherwise. It was also Paddle the Don day and at the mouth of the river festivities and eats greeted all, as there were a plethora of paddlers and their canoes.

Time To Eat Cake
It is a long way from the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh to Guyana on the northern coast of South America. Then go from Guyana to Canada. Wow, quite a journey and that is the one that my workplace colleague, Joyce Ramsubick’s,. ancestors first took and which she finished off.  Now that she is ensconced in Canada with adult children and a 30 year history in the country there are still roots to her...

Running
After a month and a half off I went running today. My back is still acting up. I’ll try this a couple more times this week and see if it still is bothersome. What the heck it can’t be any worse than the chiropractor who I haven’t made any progress with over the last month and a half.

BACK FROM THE FRANCHISE SHOW
Not that great a crowd. Was it the weather or is it the economy? Whatever it was it meant that a longer than usual look by me at a booth sent the keepers all over me. They were hungry for new leads.Of course it worked both ways. Interesting to see if mine pan out to anything. Maybe I should have gone to the 1/4 final hoop game at St. Mike’s. Oh well, I’ll go tomorrow to the semi...

One Hundred Years Ago
1909 Model R Ford This will boggle your mind, I know it did mine! The year is 1909.  One hundred years ago.  What a difference a century makes!  Here are some statistics for the Year 1909 : ************ ********* ********* ****** The average life expectancy was 47 years. Only 14 percent of the homes had a bathtub. Only 8 percent of the homes had a telephone. There were only 8,000 cars and...

They're Here
After months of waiting patiently they have finally arrived. The Christmas Holiday season is upon us. I’ve been waiting a year for this to happen. I could have extended mine, but instead I stayed back at work and completed one more task. Like Sully I was the last to leave. Now what? I have 11 days to put my life on a new path to greatness. To start with I need to do a spring cleaning of my...

Battle of the Blades
Boy did I have a lot of fun on Sunday night. i wandered from my abode for a couple of blocks to the iconic Maple Leaf Gardens (MLG) where I witnessed the finals of the CBC driven “Battle of the Blades”. This was an excellent bang for my buck, actually 10 of them. There were former NHL hockey stars paired with former world or Olympic figure skating champions. Quite incredible to see the...

Gary Vee Live
Thursday night 7:19pm, I am reading my emails after an arduous day behind the keyboard. I read there is an event going on at the stodgy old Faculty Club at the University of Toronto. The event is a wine tasting extravganza starring Gary Vaynerchuk. Desperately I rack the few brain cells I have left after a lifetime of abuse to try and remember why that name is familiar. Of course, he is the guy I...

Wow, saw him last night at the University of Toronto Faculty Club and he blew me away with his ahead of the times thinking. I actually learned a little bit about wine and a lot about the new way to do business. Thanks Gary.
